Guys, I’ve used so much makeup this year, it’s not even funny. So, narrowing it down to a few MVP’s was actually pretty hard! This year was really about starting this blog for me, so I ended up trying products just for the sake of giving them a shot which really pushed me out of my comfort zone, and crazily enough, the products that I wouldn’t normally gravitate towards ended up being some of my 2016 favorites!
Urban Decay B6 Priming spray
I started using this priming spray last summer because I wanted something super light and easy for everyday wear. I like how fine the mist is and it keeps my makeup on without feeling heavy. Plus, it feels good to spray on (especially in the texas heat).
Too Faced Born This Way Foundation
I get SO many compliments when I wear this foundation. It’s a medium coverage that is buildable so you can get fuller coverage in problem areas. Some of your skin peeks through which gives you a super natural looking finish. So, you just look #flawless.
Nars Radiant Concealer
I know we have all heard about this concealer, but I didn’t hop on the bandwagon until a few months ago when my go-to concealer was out of stock. This coverage is so luminous and gives a natural glow. It’s so beautiful.
Becca Liquid Highlighter in Opal
While we’re talking about glowing skin, let me talk about my favorite highlighter. As much as I love a great blinding shimmer, I have been gravitating towards a more natural “glow from within” with a liquid highlighter.
Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Redrum
Every girl needs a signature red lipstick. My go-to this whole year has been Jeffree Star’s Redrum. I need my lipsticks to have a lot of pigment and they need to last for HOURS without needing to be touched up or smearing all over my face, and this formula really does it all for me. This was the first shade I ever tried from them and I’ve since bought most of the rest of the collection, which should say something. (you can see my review on the holiday collection here)
Too Faced Melted Matte in Sellout
But, on those days that don’t warrant a bold lip, it’s important to have a go-to neutral lip color. I have been LOVING sellout. It’s a medium toned pink-brown so it will work on so many skin tones. I love it because my skin is so light that nude colors sometimes wash me out and I end up looking like an alien, but this shade has enough pigment to work with whatever makeup look I’m going for.
Maybelline Color Tattoo in Barely Branded
I know a ton of people that swear by MAC paint pots to prime their eyelids. But, after some experimentation, I realized that the formula for these are almost identical and the color tattoo is a fraction of the price, so it became an instant fav. I also love it on days that I’m going for a “natural” look to add a little glow to my eyes.
NYX Under Eye Color Corrector
Who else has dark circles that rival a black hole in space? It’s like, no matter how well rested I am, I wake up with huge bluish splotches under my eyes and it’s been driving me nuts for years. Butttt, now we have a solution! This peach under eye concealer cancels out any blue/purple tones and comes in a variety of shades so it’s not too intense on pale skin and still has pigment for darker skin tones. It’s been a serious life save so I had to mention it in this post.
Anastasia Duo Legend & Penny Metal
I’ve had this duo forever (like so long that I don’t know where it came from and I can’t find it online) BUT, these warm metallic eyeshadows from Anastasia Beverly hills have been such a staple in my life this year because of how easy and versatile they are. When you’re a pale red head with blue eyes, the orange/gold shadows become your best friends and so having this champagne and copper duo was SO convenient when I was traveling and I’ve been using non-stop all year. I picked the colors legend and penny metal because they look super similar, but Nars’ duo is Isolade is also really similar (I might try that one next)
Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper
I do love me a good winged liner. This liquid pen is honestly the best one there is (it’s a fact) the brush is just flexible enough to get a good flick, without being too flexible and messy.
Let me know, what your favorites were, and what products are you looking forward to getting your hands on this year!
I have the Born This Way foundation but I don’t really care for it. I have tried it with a brush and a beauty blender but it still doesn’t look good on me.

I had this problem at first, but I realized that I was using an oil based primer with a water based foundation and they just wouldn’t mix- hopefully that helps!

That nude lip is so pretty. And I’ll have to try that foundation. I love buildable formulas!

The Nars concealer is for sure one of my favorites too. I find that it’s the perfect amount of coverage and it actually matches my skin tone quite well! I just read another blog post with the Two Faced Melted Matte, and omg I need to get my hands on one of those! I also want to try the Kat Von D liquid liner, I feel like I’m a liquid liner connoisseur and always want to try 100 different ones, anything to get the perfect wing!
